The last two days saw our young athletes perform at their county schools championships.

Yesterday, Lincolnshire schools started the championships off on a glorious sunny day in Market Rasen. Five of our youngsters competed, putting in fine performances and some quilifying for the next round at Anglian Schools in February, and the top 8 in each race qualifying for English Schools in March ( Yr 8 and above only)  The Year 7 girls race saw the on form Maddy Cartwright come a fantastic 5th place, followed by a ever inproving Charlotte Davies in 10th. Joe Carrotte ran in the year 7 boys race and finished a credible 19th. Grace Sullivan ran a hard race to win the yr 8/9 Girls race by a good margin, and Devon Low yr 10, battled hard in the yr10/11 race  come 6th.

Today’s weather was not so nice! but that didnt dampen our spirits on this dull, drizzling day at South Hunsley School. First race off saw  fine runs by Mollie Ward Yr12 & Amber Laycock Yr 10 over  the 3750m course, with Mollie finishing in 4th place qualifying her for English schools and Amber finishing 13th and on the reserve list.

Next was the Yr 7 Girls, with a fantastic team effort coming from Ella Greenway 1st, Katelyn Howden 4th, Aurelia Pearson 8th, & Libby Arnett 35th.

The Yr 8/9 Boys Race saw 2 of our athletes put in great perfromances. George Gale who’s the bottom end of this age group ran a gutsy race to finish 8th and qualify for English Schools, and Ben Muir battled hard to finish 15th.

Next up was Robyn Greenway & Louisa Howden in the Yr8/9 Girls Race. This was a excting race for Robyn who was neck and neck with 2 other girls all the way round and was pipped at the post to come 3rd, with Louisa working hard right to the finish, gaining ground all the time on the first three, came 4th, both qualifying for English Schools.

The last race of the day was the yr10,11,12 & 13 boys race. By this time parts of the course were getting churned up, but this didnt stop Lewis Phillips put in a strong performace to finish 4th, Ben Plumpton 7th & Will Gale 13th in the yr 10/11 race and Jordan Carlile 4th in the senior boys race.

Well done too to Charlie Burrell  ( GY)  who ran a fine race to win the Yr 7 boys race, and Harry Mackenzie  (GY) Yr 11 who came 3rd.

Well done to all who took part in both championships and congratulations to all who qualified for English Schools at Nowrich on 18th March!!

Thanks must go to all organisers, officials and volunteers today who made this event a great one!
