Barton’s Baysgarth Park was the venue for this year’s Championships, held on Sunday 8 January, which were a great success for Cleethorpes athletes! There were some great performances by Cleethorpes AC members across all age groups.  The senior ladies had a fantastic turnout with 13 entrants!  Cleethorpes had more runners than any other club in the senior ladies race.  For many this was their first XC event and some only began running a year ago, making it an even greater achievement!

Club veteran Beverley Wilson had a fantastic run over the 5 mile course, warding off many younger competitors to become the Humberside County XC bronze medallist.  Bev, who is showing no signs of slowing down, also won gold in the vet race and Sarah Edwards won bronze (6th overall).  Bev and Sarah, along with Vicki Thomas (8th), who also had a great run, won the ladies team prize.

There were also great performances from Nicola Smith, Clare Williams, Sophie Brown, Laura Taylor, Jane Hill, Victoria Robinson, Mel Portlock, Debbie Dales, Gayle Robbins and Amber Bradley.  For some of these runners it was something new for them and out of their comfort zone but they all embraced the challenge and said they would do it again!  Well done to all!

Well done also to the senior men and the juniors who had some great individual and team results!
